pin in it, water pick me, in the plot I’m picking

nibbled cabbages, I ptui ptui, I can tell despite this

fence, fights from spit, hassle, wrestle,

tension, spree, hard, I can smell a home haircut by the ears,

by the skylight, but I didn’t say anything from a mile away!

Where that shirt comes from, my tummy

audible, your unnecessary zipper, approximated

lisp, a trace line of light through sky then glass then cloth

Margaret is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Iowa Center for the Book and a member of the Iowa City Poetry Advisory Council. She has an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
